We put the 1245 Box together in Haarlem itself. Inside you'll find products from Max's mits, De Haarlemse Bakker, Mamas Chai, De Cronjé. The businesses we work with produce in small batches, so what goes in shifts a little from season to season. If something runs out, it is replaced by something from the same city.
The 1245 Box is named after the year Count William II of Holland granted Haarlem its city rights: 23 November 1245, some sixty years before Amsterdam. The charter borrowed its rules from Den Bosch, gave Haarlem toll exemption throughout Holland and came with the town's first ramparts. This box celebrates that beginning: compact, complete and unmistakably from Haarlem.
